Definition

The EEG consists on recording the electrical activity from the brain using electrodes located on the scalp surface.

This system is used on clinical purpose to epilepsy diagnostic and it is often the only device enabling neurologists to observe abnormalities (See EEG signals).

Electrode positions are codified by 10/20 system.


The EEG interests are the followings:
  • High temporal resolution
  • Low cost (IT is possible to made one with about 500 $)
  • Low Weight
  • Entirely non invasive
